New Moon Prayers - Witchcraft Basics
Last Updated: January 30, 2023
In the ongoing series on witchcraft basics, we’ll be looking at the air element which spans many cultures and religions. The most whimsical and intangible of the four elements, this element is all about logic, communication and divination.
What better way to support this than by using prayers for the moon phases? This time, I’m talking New Moon and manifestation.
Here is a collected list of new moon prayers for witches and spiritual folks alike. It’s great for you to have a monthly ritual at the start of the new moon to set intentions for yourself and to do some self-reflection. It’s my hope that it this New Moon brings exactly what you ask for, whilst it remains you that anything is possible if you have faith and work hard for it.
These new moon prayers are similar in theme and sound, but tweaked based on your practice beliefs – I advocate you swap out words where you wish to, to make it a more powerful prayer, but these are here for inspiration for you. You can use these prayers alone, or combine them with your own new moon ritual too.
New Moon Prayer for Elemental Witches, Cosmic Witches and Lunar Witches
“As the new moon rises, we call upon the power of the moon and the elements. We are guided by the light of the moon and the wisdom of the earth, air, fire, and water.
We are grateful for the opportunity to start anew, to tap into the energy of the moon and the elements, and to use this energy to fuel our intentions and desires.
We trust in our connection to the natural world, and we ask for guidance and clarity as we move forward.
We release any doubts or fears that may hold us back, and we open ourselves up to the abundance and magic of the universe.
So it is written, and so that it is.”
Triple Goddess New Moon Group Prayer
“As the new moon rises, we call upon the power of the triple goddess. We are guided by the maiden, the mother, and the crone, and we honor the cycles of birth, growth, and death. We are grateful for the opportunity to start anew, to plant, to nurture, to harvest the seeds of our hopes and dreams, and to manifest our deepest desires.
We trust in our connection to the divine feminine, and we ask for guidance and clarity as we move forward. We hold no doubts or fears that hold us back, and we open ourselves up to the abundance and magic of the universe. Blessed be, and so it is.”
Solitary Witch New Moon Prayer
“As the new moon rises, I call upon my inner strength and power. I am connected to the cycles of the earth, and I use this energy to fuel my intentions and desires. I am grateful for the opportunity to start anew, to plant the seeds of my hopes and dreams, and to manifest my deepest desires.
I trust in my ability to create change in my life and the world around me, and I ask for guidance and clarity as I move forward. I release any doubts or fears that may hold me back, and I open myself up to the abundance and magick of the universe. Blessed is my journey, and so it is.”
Wiccan Prayer for the New Moon
“Blessed be, oh new moon,
As you rise in the sky,
Bringing forth a new cycle,
A time for new beginnings,
A time for spells to thrive.
May your light guide us,
As we gather under your glow,
To cast our spells with intention,
And watch them unfold and grow.
Bless our circle, oh new moon,
As we come together in harmony,
To honor the old ways,
And to celebrate our spirituality.
We give thanks for your presence,
And for the power you bring,
As we start this new moon cycle,
With love and joy in our hearts and minds.
So mote it be.”
New Moon Prayer for Secular Witches
“As the new moon rises, I set my intentions and cast my spell. I believe in the power of my own will and abilities. I am strong, capable, and worthy of achieving my goals. I ask that the universe align itself with my desires and support me in manifesting my dreams.
I am grateful for the opportunities that life presents, and I am ready to take action to make them a reality. I have faith in my own abilities and the support of the universe.
With this new moon, I embrace my power and step into my full potential. I am ready to grow, learn, and evolve. I am excited for what the future holds, and I am determined to make the most of it, and as I will it, so it be done.”
New Moon Prayer for Women's Circle
“Goddesses of the night,
As we gather under the new moon’s light,
We call upon your strength and wisdom,
To guide and inspire us on this sacred night.
May the energy of the new moon,
Fill us with determination and drive,
To pursue our dreams and goals,
With passion and ambition by our side.
Bless our circle, oh new moon,
As we come together in sisterhood,
To support and uplift one another,
As we embrace our feminine power.
We give thanks for this new beginning,
And for the opportunities that lie ahead,
As we journey forth into the unknown,
With courage, grace, and confidence in our hearts.
So mote it be.”
How to conclude a prayer or spell?
There are many different ways to conclude a spell or ritual, and the phrase “so mote it be” is just one option. Some other alternatives that you could use include:
- “Blessed be.”
- “And so it is.”
- “May it be so.”
- “Let it be done.”
- “As I will, so mote it be.”
- “As I speak, so shall it be.”
- “By the power of the elements, so mote it be.”
- “By the power of the Goddess, so mote it be.”
- “By the power of the universe, so mote it be.”
- “Because I said so, it shall be done.”
Ultimately, the right phrase to use will depend on your personal beliefs and preferences, as well as the context and intention of your spellwork. Some people may also choose to create their own unique phrase to use as a conclusion to their spells, such as a mantra or affirmation that resonates with them.
If you share these prayers socially, for business purposes, or on your websites or blogs, or even take “creative inspiration”, please give credit back! (No shade, but it’s weird to see my content out there but not credited. Like, we’re all adults… I’m obviously going to find out! It’s also wise not to piss off the witch… )
There is also no right or wrong way to pray; it’s a matter of finding what feels comfortable to you in your practice.
