Tarot Reading Gigs: How to Find Local Live Event Opportunities
Last Updated: June 13, 2023
I know that in the age of online technologies, it’s now easier than ever to market your tarot business and acquire clients without even leaving your house. However, live event opportunities are something I would advise you to look into in order to grow your tarot business further.
These opportunities not only help you expand your clientele, but they also allow you to build a stronger connection with clients, showcase your skills in person, and network with like-minded professionals. I have leveraged the power of live events to elevate my tarot practice for a few years now and can attest that these live events have played a key role in growing my business and increasing my tarot reading bookings.
Today I will share with you various ways to discover local live event opportunities and provide tips to successfully integrate them into your tarot business strategy.
What sort of live event should you be looking for?
Understand that doubts and scepticism are common human reactions, especially in the realm of the unknown. Put yourself in the client’s shoes and acknowledge their feelings without judgement.
Do not take it personally, they came to you for a reason. Their doubts and scepticism may stem from uncertainty, fear, or past experiences. As the tarot reader, it is your role to provide a safer and supportive environment for the client to explore these emotions and receive the guidance they are seeking.
Keep in mind the way you react to these moments of doubt may dictate whether they become a regular client or never reach out to you again.
Metaphysical and spiritual shops
This one is a little obvious I’ll give you that but your local metaphysical shops should be your first stop. You’ll be outreaching people that are already familiar with tarot and spirituality already so you should not have too much trouble convincing the owners to collaborate. I’m talking crystal shops, reiki practitioners, all of these lovely folks!
Think about it; you’d maybe get access to their walk-ins client and you might be able to generate more foot traffic in their shop thanks to your marketing on social media. It’s a win-win situation for both parties.
Holistic and wellness fairs
Think of all the amazing fairs that are nearby! Even if you can’t trade actual readings on the day, you can market your biz and showcase your skills to persuade future clients to give you a try.
Try a search engine of upcoming events, and see if they have a table available for you to read from. Bring lots of biz cards, marketing materials, and yes – your decks!
Psychic and divination expos
Psychic and divination expos provide an ideal platform for tarot readers, as they attract individuals interested in various forms of divination, including astrology, palmistry, and numerology.
These events often feature expert speakers, workshops, and a diverse range of practitioners, making them a perfect environment for showcasing your tarot reading expertise. That being said, the competition might be a little stronger since you probably won’t be the only tarot reader there.
In my experience, these events are great simply for the fact that you get to spend the day with like-minded individuals. This allows for valuable networking opportunities, meeting new people, exchanging ideas, and even learning from other experts in the field. In my experience, witches love to read for each other, and to get that different perspective. Put yourself forward for being in that role!
Weddings
Weddings present a unique opportunity for tarot readers, as they offer an engaging and memorable form of entertainment for guests. Tarot readings can serve as conversation starters, connecting attendees who may not know each other well, while providing personalized experiences in contrast to larger group activities.
Tapping into the themes of love, commitment, and new beginnings, tarot readings create an emotional connection that resonates with wedding guests. I have personally never read tarot at a wedding but some of my friends have and said it was a really cool experience. I know I’m booking a reader for my own wedding!
Corporate office parties
Corporate parties are a double-edged sword in my experience. Financially they’re nice because companies usually have a nice budget they can play with and usually you can get paid a deposit ahead of the event and then the rest after.
They have more room to negotiate and you may be able to work out a good price for your time. The caveat is that this audience is often less experienced with the esoteric world and so you may face a higher level of doubt from the clients. It’s an excellent choice event-wise for you if you have self-development readings however!

Baby showers
I was recently hired to perform tarot readings at a witchy baby shower, and it turned out to be an incredibly enjoyable experience! The organizer had pre-booked several sessions for me, but the interest from guests was overwhelming.
As a result, I ended up conducting around 15 readings throughout the event. This translated into a significant income in just a few hours, showcasing the potential of offering tarot readings at such gatherings.
Birthday parties
Just like baby showers, birthday parties offer an exciting opportunity for tarot readers to entertain and engage guests. Tarot is a fun way to help create a lively atmosphere and attract a diverse range of clients.
I love these social events as they can serve as a platform for word-of-mouth referrals, as satisfied guests may recommend your services to their friends and family for future events. It’s also great for repeat bookings, especially for year ahead readings, as you can then meet and debrief how it’s all gone!
Bachelorette parties
Bachelorette parties present a lively and enjoyable setting for tarot readings, adding an entertaining and unique element to the celebration. While guests may be more spirited due to the festive atmosphere and presence of alcohol, scheduling your readings in the early evening and when the music is quieter can help ensure a smoother experience.
Plus, attendees at bachelorette parties are often more generous with tips, making it a potentially lucrative opportunity for other tarot readers.
Rent a space in a hair salon
Securing a space within a hair salon can be a creative and effective way to offer your tarot reading services. Clients waiting for their hair appointments or receiving treatments may be intrigued by the opportunity to have a tarot reading.
This unique collaboration can attract new clients, provide added value to the salon’s clientele, and create a more holistic experience for customers.
Where should you look for those live reading opportunities?
Local metaphysical and spiritual shops
Forge connections with owners and staff of local metaphysical and spiritual shops to stay informed about upcoming events. Networking with these individuals not only helps you gather valuable information but also opens up opportunities for collaboration and referrals.
Building strong relationships within the spiritual community can be instrumental in growing your tarot business and expanding your client base.
Social media platforms
Follow pages and accounts related to spirituality, metaphysics, and wellness in your area to stay updated on upcoming events. Social media platforms are now the quickest way to stay informed about what’s happening in your area so leverage this information to your advantage.
By engaging with these online communities, you can keep an eye out for upcoming events that may be interested in featuring a tarot reader, and even reach out to organizers directly through social media channels. I’m a queer bi witch, so I not only keep an eye on witchy events but for the LGBTQIA+ community too. Describe yourself, and see if you can bend into other communities online spaces too.
More often than not you’ll receive an answer quicker that way rather than via emails.
Online event directories and local calendars
Utilize online event directories and local calendars to discover events that align with your interests and expertise in tarot reading. These resources often provide comprehensive listings of upcoming gatherings, workshops, and fairs, allowing you to identify potential opportunities for showcasing your services.
Community centers and libraries
Community centers and libraries are often valuable resources for discovering local happenings. They typically feature bulletin boards displaying flyers and announcements about upcoming events in the area. My local cafe has a whole wall, and it’s always being updated!
Be sure to explore these boards to identify potential opportunities where you could offer tarot readings at various gatherings and engage with the local community.
College and university event boards
Have you explored WitchTok? Younger generations are increasingly embracing spirituality. Keep an eye out for student-organized events and gatherings that may be interested in featuring a tarot reader.
Local newspapers and magazines
Check event listings for potential opportunities. Nearby towns and cities may host recurring (weekly or monthly) markets, where you could secure a booth or stall to offer your tarot reading services.
You may be pleasantly surprised by the number of people in your local area who show interest in tarot readings.
I’ve had many first-time clients, who initially never considered getting a tarot reading, leave delighted and satisfied with the experience.
Chamber of Commerce event listings
Search for events organized by local businesses that could align with your tarot reading services and cater to an audience that would appreciate your expertise. These events may include workshops, employee appreciation events, team-building retreats, or networking mixers.
Additionally, you could attend local business events to network with entrepreneurs and small business owners and express your interest in collaborating on future events.
What benefits have I experienced from participating in live events for both my tarot business and myself?
- I have increased my professional network so much and now I get to collaborate with other spiritual folks regularly on social media.
- My repeat customer base has also increased nicely. I have seen people come back to me for readings 2 to 3 times per year.
- I think it has greatly benefited my branding as well, with people reaching out to me by word of mouth.
- It has pushed me to go out of my comfort zone and get myself out there, which is not always easy to do so I am rather proud of that.
- I’ve made many new friends in that space too, people I can rely on, talk shop with and brainstorm ideas with.
- My confidence has seen a boost as well. As I said it’s not easy to outreach so many people, receive many refusals, and push forward. But if you are serious about your tarot business, it’s definitely worth it.
My tips for maximizing your chances of outreach success
- Keep your outreach messages short and to the point. Introduce yourself and what you do, what you offer, how much value your services provide and dive straight into your proposal. Just assume everyone you are outreaching is very busy and will likely skim over your message. So be sure to make it short and sweet.
- Be persistent but polite in following up with potential partners. This demonstrates your dedication and enthusiasm for the collaboration, but remember to give them sufficient time to respond. I usually give it a week, and a gentle “please can you check your junk folder?” DM on socials too!
- Clearly communicate the benefits of collaborating with you, and show how your tarot reading services can enhance their event or business.
- Be open to different types of collaborations and opportunities, and be prepared to adjust your services or approach to fit the specific needs of the event or collaboration.
- Include links to testimonials, to previous event write ups, and a pricelist. This is super helpful!
I have been reading Tarot for more than 15 years. I have always enjoyed using my intuition to provide clarity and insights to others. Tarot is one of my favorite forms of divination, and I love sharing that passion with like-minded folks.
