Can Other People Touch Your Tarot Cards?
Last Updated: July 27, 2022
“Can you use someone else’s tarot cards?” and “can other people touch your tarot cards?” are two questions that are often asked by people who are beginning their tarot journey. The answer to both of these questions is “it depends.”
Tarot cards are often seen as very personal items and some people consider it bad luck to let someone else touch them. However, I believe that is entirely up to the owner of the tarot cards to decide whether or not someone else can use them. The tarot is a practice about energy and emotion, coming from both you and your tarot cards. Over time, a deep bond is created as you use them for readings and as a source of guidance. That’s why some people feel like someone else using their cards may interfere with the connection and energy that has been built up.
Energy can be passed on from people to people but also objects. So, if you feel like someone else using your cards would interfere with your practice or personal connection to the tarot, then it’s probably best not to let them use them. Ultimately, it is up to the owner to decide what they feel most comfortable with.
If you don’t want anyone else to touch your cards, then simply say no and explain why. It’s important to be respectful of other people’s beliefs, too.
I have known some tarot readers that ask their clients to touch the cards as a way to connect with their energy and the reading. They ask them to shuffle the tarot cards and cut them, prior to starting the reading. Personally, I am okay with my family and friends touching some of my tarot decks and cards, but I would never touch someone else’s cards without permission. I also keep some decks for my own exclusive use.
Bear in mind, your tarot cards can always be cleansed and recharged after every use – no matter who has touched them. This is a way of keeping your cards energetically clean and healthy. So even if you choose to let someone else use your cards, it’s always important to take care of them afterwards!
Crystals are an effective way to cleanse your tarot cards after they have been handled by someone else.
I have been reading Tarot for more than 15 years. I have always enjoyed using my intuition to provide clarity and insights to others. Tarot is one of my favorite forms of divination, and I love sharing that passion with like-minded folks.
