Card #1: Your Feelings

This card delves into your own emotional landscape regarding your crush. It can reveal the depth of your feelings, whether they are fleeting or have the potential for something more. It can reveal even maybe why you’re so attracted to them so then it helps to clarify exactly why you’re feeling this kinda way, and if you take away anything from this spread at least you know what you need in some companionship.

This may look like the Ace of Cups, a card we know that brings in significant emotional beginnings, the start of some romance or a great new relationship; it may feel like the first time you’ve felt like this for another person and that your feelings for your crush are genuine, so you have the potential for deep emotional connection!

But it could also show up like the Four of Cups reversed, indicating that really you’re just looking for distractions from other disatisfactions in your life, and you’re looking for an escape rather than focus on what’s missing and working toward a new fulfilment.

You’re being positive about wanting some action in your life, no pun intended, and so this crush as a distraction is great fun – but do look to see whether it’s truly what you want.

Card #2: Your Crush’s Perspective

This card aims to offer insight into how your crush might be feeling or thinking about you. While it’s not a mind-reading tool, it can give you a general sense of their emotional or mental state concerning you.

What we want here is the understand how they feel towards you in a way that is beneficial to you also wanting to match up with them, and we want to ensure that they see you in an authentic light too – not daydreaming about you as some other person, but the real you.

We might pull the Sun for this, which is one of the most positive feelings card we could pull for this position. It’s all victory, success, optimism and happy vibes! Or we might pull the reversed Five of Swords, which may seem positive on the surface as it does have another victory theme to it – but do we have the energy to get into it with this person, to have a feisty and competitive and passionate relationship with this person that just screams conflict?

And worst, they may actually love this! It’s like those rom-coms where the two protagonists hate each other, always bickering etc until they realise they’re in love. Lotta drama! So again it’s an opportunity to see if this is really what you want from this person.

Card #3: External Influences

This card highlights any external factors that may be affecting the situation. This could be mutual friends, work or school environments, or even timing. Maybe it’s even a universe cosmic vibe, right? It’s the context in which the crush is happening.

So we may get a card like the Three of Wands that definitely indicates planning and looking to the future, especially if your friends or peers feel that it’s a place where something special could grow between you and your crush. Or it may be like the Hanged Man in reverse, where actually patience will be rewarded here… or something else is going on bringing you together at this time, but in terms of a relationship?

It may be a repeat of old habits that just haven’t served you well, and it’s time to take this as an opportunity to learn our lesson so we can get back on the path we need to be on. Either way, no sudden moves with this card.

Card #4: Obstacles & Challenges

This card identifies potential hurdles you might face in turning this crush into a relationship. These could be internal fears, misunderstandings, self-care work that is left unfinished or external circumstances generally beyond your control right now.

So whilst we may pull Strength, it’s a card that represents courage and inner strength. It suggests that any obstacles you face can be overcome with emotional resilience. Or it may be like the Devil, and there are so many restrictions on you both it’s providing insecurities or unhealthy attachments. Limit the opportunity for self-imposed boundaries if you are looking for a bit of freedom with this person.

Card #5: Potential Outcome

If you’re gonna pull any card this spread, it has to be this. This placement gives a glimpse into the possible future of this romantic interest. Will the crush evolve into a deeper connection, or is it more likely to fizzle out?

This card provides a directional hint and truly brings the clarity that brought you to your deck in the first place. It may show up like the Two of Cups, and one of mutual emotional attraction & connection, deffo suggesting a favorable outcome for you both.

Or it may just show up as the Ten of Wands, of burdens and struggles, suggesting that the crush might turn out to be more trouble than it’s worth, leading to emotional exhaustion.

Important Cards That May Appear

  • If you find that you have the Magician with the Three of Swords, steer clear.
  • If you pull a combo of the Sun, the 10 of Cups, the Ace of Wands and the Ace of Swords – absolutely talk to this person about how you’re feeling immediately and don’t waste time. And don’t be afraid to be saucy about it!
  • If you pull the Chariot, it’s absolutely looking like a win for you.
  • If you pull the Two of Pentacles, it’s likely they’re going to offer you a balance but one that isn’t necessarily sexual or intellectually stimulating.
  • If you pull the High Priestess, you’ve gotta let your intuition guide you when it comes to interaction with this crush.
  • If you pull the Hierophant, they’ve got something to teach you, and it isn’t necessarily romantic, so please take care to manage your expectations.

Whether the cards reveal a path of mutual attraction or it’s cautionary tales of emotional pitfalls, remember that they are guides, not gospel.

There’s also free will happening at the moment, and anything can change by tomorrow. The ultimate outcome lies in the choices you make and the actions you take. So, armed with newfound clarity, may you navigate the labyrinth of love with both courage and discernment.

And don’t be afraid to ask your crush exactly how they’re feeling – it’s always better to hear it from them directly. Wishing all the luck with this and until next time xox

What to do after this tarot reading

Always remember to take the time to listen and be still so that you can get their answers with clarity.

After you’ve finished a tarot reading, there are a few things you can do in order to reflect on the experience and integrate the insights you gained. Here are some suggestions:

Use a tarot journal to record your findings

Jotting down your thoughts in a tarot journal after reading can be helpful in a few ways. First, it can help you remember the details of your reading later on, such as how you felt at the moment and perhaps your first impressions of what a card meant.

Second, it can provide a space for you to process the information you’ve received and explore what it means for you. Third, it can be a way to keep track of your progress over time as you revisit your journal entries and reflect on your journey.

Take a picture of the spread

If you want to remember the position of the cards and what they meant in relation to your questions, take a picture of the spread. This will help you look back on the reading later and review the insights you received. Sometimes, clarity is better acquired after you’ve stepped back from the situation for a little while and had some time to process it.

Some people create Instagram accounts or Pinterest accounts specifically for this, and if you use any of our spreads please tag us @backyardbanshee if you feel comfortable!

Take some time to meditate and reflect

Immediately after a tarot reading, it’s important to take some time to sit with the insights you’ve received. This can be done through proper meditation, visualisation, or simply taking some time to reflect on the reading.

It can be helpful to think about what the messages from the cards mean for your life and how you can apply the advice that was given to you. That time can also be used to replenish your energy level and cleanse your tarot deck.

Get a second opinion from a close friend

If you have close friends who also happen to be tarot practitioners, it can be helpful to get their take on your reading. They may be able to offer additional insights or perspectives that you hadn’t considered before. This is also a good way to get feedback on your own interpretation of the cards.

Ensure to ask permission before just blindly sending your cards across in a message and saying “what does this mean to you?” as your friends may not have the energy or have a boundary with this sort of thing – manners cost nothing, and this is especially to note if they are a professional tarot reader who normally gets paid to interpret readings.

Do the same reading a few days or weeks later

This is a great way to check in on your progress and see how far you’ve come. It can also be helpful in understanding the cyclical nature of our lives and how our current situation is likely to change over time.

At the end of the day, tarot readings are meant to be a helpful tool, not a replacement for your own intuition. The best way to use tarot is to combine the insights you receive with your own understanding of the situation. Trust your gut and follow your heart—the answers you’re looking for will come.

It is my hope that these tarot spreads on my website help you with clarity and articulate whatever is going on. Let me know what you think of this tarot spread in the comments below and if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me.
